What we keep, and why
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name and email | To contact you when founding places open. |
| Who it’s for, and your optional answers | To learn what families want, so we build the right thing. |
| The founding plan, price and page version you saw | So we can honour that plan and price, and learn which plans families prefer. |
How you found us: campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source), the name of the site that linked here, the first page you saw, your device’s time zone, your country (from your connection, not your exact location) and any invite code | To learn which channels work, and to credit the person who invited you. |
| Estate-planning firms: firm, state or region, role, client numbers and pilot interest | To contact you about the partner programme. |
We don’t collect payment details, voices, recordings, precise location or contacts. We don’t buy lists, sell personal information or share it for advertising.
Where it’s kept
Your sign-up is stored in a database run by Cloudflare, which also hosts this site. Emails we send you, such as the email asking you to confirm a newsletter sign-up, go out through our mailbox on the Grok Bot email service (mail.grokbot.com), so your email address passes through that service when we write to you. These are the only companies that handle your sign-up for us. It may be stored outside your country, including in the United States. For UK and EU visitors, Cloudflare’s data processing addendum includes the standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum. For Australian visitors, we take reasonable steps to make sure Cloudflare handles your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APP 8).
What we send you
Joining the waitlist doesn’t add you to any newsletter or email sequence. We contact you once, when founding places open. We’ll also tell you if this page changes in a way that matters. Any message comes from Adeline, Loved Ever After’s automated assistant.
If you sign up for the blog digest, we keep your email address and the sections you chose so we can send it, and you can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email.
What we store on your device
No advertising or tracking cookies. The site stores a few small values in your browser:
lea_cellandlea_hero: the founding plan and page version you saw, so they stay the same if you come back.lea_src: how you arrived. Cleared when you close the tab.lea_region: a cookie set only when you choose a region, so the site opens in your currency next time. It lasts 12 months.lea_noticeorlea_optout: your answer to the notice shown in the UK and Europe.
Choose “Don’t remember it” in that notice, or clear this site’s storage in your browser, at any time. If you then see a different plan, tell us. We’ll honour whichever plan you prefer of those you saw.
We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to understand visits to this site in aggregate, without cookies. We don’t track you on other sites.
Legal basis (UK and EU)
We keep your sign-up and contact you because you asked us to (consent). You can withdraw at any time by emailing us. We use the plan, page-version and source details for our legitimate interest in learning which plans and channels work.
How long we keep it
- Until you ask us to delete it, or 24 months after you join, whichever comes first.
- If we decide not to launch, we’ll tell you and delete the waitlist.
Your rights
Email [email protected] to see, correct or delete what we hold, or to stop us using it. We reply within 30 days. You don’t need to give a reason.
- Australia: if you’re unhappy with our reply, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
- United Kingdom: you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
- United States: we honour requests to know, correct and delete from anyone, wherever they live. We don’t sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms.
The waitlist is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Voices and recordings: our rules for later
None of this is collected during the waitlist. Before anything is recorded, the storyteller reads and signs these rules:
- Only the storyteller can say yes. A living person makes their own keepsake, with written consent. Family can join the waitlist for them, but can’t consent for them. We never recreate someone who has died or didn’t consent.
- The voice is a separate choice. Recording stories and recreating the voice need separate consent. Either can be refused, or withdrawn later.
- One purpose. Recordings and the voice are used only for that family’s keepsake. Never to identify anyone, never sold or exported, never used to build voices for anyone else.
- Always disclosed. Every conversation opens by saying it’s a recreation. Where the law requires it, recreated audio carries a machine-readable marker.
- A published retention schedule. It will say how long recordings are kept and when they’re destroyed, and meet the strictest law we’re subject to, including Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act.
- In their control. The storyteller decides who can listen, and can download or delete everything at any time.
- Treated as sensitive. We treat voice recordings as sensitive information under Australian law and as special category data under UK and EU law, and ask for explicit consent.
